I have asked to post this feature request here.
The main problem that I see with the UPS implementation is the lack of:
"go into auto protection when only X minutes of power are left"
The system has:
"go into auto protection when the system has been on battery power for X minutes"
But, this does not cover the times that there is a power outage, after another power outage, after another power outage. With the time in between not long enough to recharge the batteries. This time of X might be too long and never be reached causing a hard power off by the UPS.
The time left on batteries use is the default normal operation for Windows PCs connected to a UPS.
I hope you update this operation, all my QNAP systems are connected to UPS devices and this would protect the data more.

I agree. Was just playing around with this because my UPS ran out of juice before the timer on the NAS. That would be a killer feature!

I sent support the feature request, kinda strange this feature isn't the first type they implemented.

Curiously, I suggested something vaguely similar - and really quite recently - but you must remember that such major deviations from technical rectitude require considerable time to carefully consider, then considerable time to carefully implement (then once implemented, probably considerably more amounts of time to then urgently patch).
