One of the raid failed in a storagepool

Post by teetach27894 »

Regarding storagepool that QNAP recently introduced.

FYI I haven't had any experience with storagepool before as I am going to build one.

I'm going to buy a new 8-bay NAS and going to configure the nas to 2 raid5, each with 4 drives.

AFAIK after reading about the storage pool on this link
https://www.qnap.com/i/en/trade_teach/c ... one&cid=91
I can put 2 raids together into one storagepool and then mount it as single volume.

If one of the raid is completely corrupted (cannot rebuild), will I still be able to access the volume with what the other raid has left? let just say I put 1000 photos in the volume and after one raid died i got 500 left.
Or the storagepool act some kind of raid 0 that if one died all the files are gone?
