How can I install Logwatch on my TS-212?

Post by No Expert »

Hi,

Does anyone know whether Logwatch can be installed on our NASs (without creating any problems) and if so how to install it?

Thank you

What is LogWatch? Hard to help without basic information provided.
LogWatch is a pretty generic name, perhaps you could provide a URL that tells us something about it.

Apologies,

I thought it was a widely used term.

I was referring to this:
http://linux.die.net/man/8/logwatch
http://sourceforge.net/projects/logwatch/files/

Thanks

This version of Logwatch seems to be Perl based, so it can probably be modified to work on your NAS, even a Marvel/ARM based one such as your TS-212. The logging on the NAS is minimal, as /var/log lives in a RAMDisk.

QNAP NAS devices do not use RPM files, but it seems to provide a standard .tgz version too, which you can probably install fairly easily. You will need Perl installed on the NAS for sure for this to have a hope of working, but Perl is available in the App Center.
