Why do RAID1 disks are not readable

So why are you beating your head against the wall? When you have all the necessary parts (ie the NAS and the RAID1 array) we can troubleshoot this properly. You are obviously outside your element attempting to work with the array from Windows or your undisclosed Linux Server, so put the NAS back together, so we can troubleshoot this properly on the NAS.

We are willing to help, but lack of information is the largest hurdle so far. You haven't even told us whether or not you are using Storage Pools or not, Firmware Version/Build, & etc. At least on the NAS we can provide troubleshooting commands to work with. My drives here are setup as a single RAID5 Storage Pool, which I can look at with the command: "vgdisplay -v", which produces the following output:

Your 2nd RAID1 array is presently rebuilding. It will allegedly be complete in 904 minutes. Your use of incompatible drives is probably the reason for this rebuild being required.

Why did you purchase those horrible drives in the first place?

Not applicable to TS-509 Pro. TS-639 Pro does not support >16TB disk volume.

This hard drive series initially passed our lab compatibility test and was included in the recommended HDD list. However, during the last few months, we have received an overwhelming number of support requests regarding this hard drive series. The high failure rate of this hard drives series has raised concerns over risks of data loss. Therefore, we have no choice but to remove this series from the recommended HDD list. For users who have already installed this series of HDD on their Turbo NAS, QNAP will continue to provide technical supports as requested.

The batch number, 1CH166, has passed the hard drive compatibility test.

Please contact technical supports as recommended. Personally I'd recommend replacing all those horrid drives. Going forward you might want to consider purchase drives from the TS-869 Pro Recommended HDD List instead of purchasing the cheapest/nastiest drives you could find. Perhaps you should read a few of these messages.

It comes as no surprise whatsoever that you are experiencing issues with those drives. Most of your drives have almost no Power-On hours on them, when suggests you purchased these incompatible drives recently. Why didn't you purchase NAS/RAID specific drives for your RAID device?

If it makes you feel any better, I have personal experience with ST2000DM001's myself.

I no longer purchase any Seagate products here.

I know it's rebuilding, and it's normal (this time

) because i created the raid volume 2 days ago for testing pupose (and i shutted down the qnap yesterday before it was finished resync).
The owner of the qnap (a friend of mine) purchased those HDD because of their price, i assume.

But in fact, there is no problem today with the volume or disk (i know that it will, i already saw the messages about thoses HDD, he will change them). But I just wanted to know how to access the data on one raid1 HDD, outside the NAS.

Do those exports could help us to find a solution to read (= to rebuild or use one) a disk on a osx/win/linux computer ?

The thing is that LVM(2) volume groups are not intended as portable/removable media can't be "just" mounted on a random system without any insight. Granted, it might (and is) be possible to reverse-engineer things if there is nothing but the plain storage media available - we do this with on FDA (no, not US Food and Drugs Administration - Forensic Data Analysis - this is beyond the scope here.
