File System Check has been running for hours.

Yesterday, I updated the firmware on my QNAP TS-251 to 4.2.0 Build 20160101.

Today, I got a message notification

[Volume DataVol1] The file system is not clean. It is suggested that you go to [Storage Manager] to run 'Check File System'

.

I've done that and now for the past 5 hours it has been in a state of "Checking... (100%)"

None of my services are currently running during this process and I'm not sure what I should do at this point. Obviously waiting it out is not a solution.
