TS219P Disk replacement

Post by goldendel »

Hello,

I'm running low on space and I would like to migrate off my 2x WD20EADS to 2x WD60EFRX. The manual seems to suggest I can just "expand capacity" to expand the RAID 1, keeping all my data. Is it this simple or are there some gotchas I need to know about?

Thanks for your help,

Tim

PS Requested minimum data set below

Your Operating System you are using to access your NAS: Windows 7 SP1
NAS model 219P
Firmware Version/Build numbers 4.2 (current build)
Network Setup (ie Single Port or Port Trunking): Single Port
If Port Trunking is present please specify (choose correct one):
Balance-rr (Round-Robin)
Active Backup
Balance XOR
Broadcast
IEEE 802.3ad (Dynamic Link Aggregation)
Balance-tlb (Adaptive Transmit Load Balancing)
Balance-alb (Adaptive Load Balancing)
If Disk related please also specify:
Drive Configuration: (ie SingleDrive, RAID0, JBOD, RAID1, RAID5, RAID6, RAID10) RAID1
Number of drives 2
For each drive please provide:
Drive Manufacturer (ie Seagate, WD, Hitachi, etc) WD

no that should work just fine, just follow through with the "expand capacity" steps and you should be fine

just make sure you have a current backup of your files, just in case something goes wrong

Yes ... pray the remaining Green don't go belly up during the full RAID1 resync.
