External drive allocation question
I have three external usb drives connected to my TS110. When I reboot or perform a firmware update, sometimes the drives get allocated different labels. For example what was USBDisk2 becomes USBDisk3 etc. As I have the drives shared on the network this becomes a problem. Is there any way to mitigate this? I'd prefer not to have to plug/unplug the drives if at all possible. Thanks.

So I guess nobody has an answer? Pity as I thought someone else might have come across this.

They have and it has been discussed many times in the form already. Try searching the forum.degsie wrote:So I guess nobody has an answer? Pity as I thought someone else might have come across this.

Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

Re: External drive allocation question
Ok, wasn't sure what search keywords to use (maybe you could have suggested some?) but I did find a discussion on renaming the volume label which my TS110 does not support. So I guess I am stuck with this shortcoming.
