TS-209 Pro II - RAID 1 - Disk upgrade procedure

Postby zefer » Thu Apr 23, 2009 6:45 pm

Hi,

I have a new TS-209 Pro II which will be running RAID 1 mirroring two Samsung 500GB drives. When I want to upgrade to bigger drives, e.g. 1TB, can this be done via hotswap? What is the correct procedure?

Many thanks.

TS-209 does not support raid migration and expansion, so bad luck there. You'll need to copy the data to the bigger disks

I was gutted when I found out it couldn't do migrations, but this really spoils the party!

Thanks for your response.

yes, and together with the EXT3+ filesystem makes it a NAS that should be forgotten as quickly as possible, the new ones are so much better
(and yes, I also have a TS-209)

Argh, don't tell me this, I've just spent £270 on one! :(

heh... The TS-209-II came out about 1 month after I bought the I model. And I bought a Canon DSLR 400D also 1 month before the 450D was announced. Got a Nokia n810 just to find out that all those fanboys were wrong and that it is dead slow and almost unusable.
** happens, I've learned to live with it.

But seriously, the TS-209 performs quite well for its money and upgrading is no problem since one should have backups anyway.
