We have released a BIOS update utility to fix the reboot issue on the TS-X79 series. With the QNAP BIOS update utility users can update the BIOS/ME ROM and 82574 EEPROM image from a bootable USB flash drive.
It is suggested to update the BIOS ONLY if the users encounter the reboot issue.===============================================================================================
QNAP BIOS update instructions (READ FIRST BEFORE UPDATING):

Is this BIOS update applicable for those that already have firmware 3.6.1? As that one already included a BIOS update.

Dear RedShift:
Yes, it is applicable for the NAS who already have fw 3.6.1. This is the latest BIOS of the TS-x79 series. It is suggested to update the BIOS ONLY if the users encounter the reboot issue.

Can anyone in this thread confirm that the most recent firmware upgrades have resolved the iSCSI related reboot problems. We are considering purchase of this unit but need to know that the iSCSI/random reboot problems discussed in this thread have been resolved. Thanks you.

my QNAP TS-879U-RP is crashed again (reboot) last week after running without problems since 2012-07-17 !! I updated the BIOS at this day.
I was in good hope, but now, I think a have to replace this hardware. It's not ready for production in a busy iSCSI environment.
I use only iSCSI as service.
Current firmware version: 3.5.3 Build 0130T
Best
Jens
