RAID5 combined with RAID0

Postby derdritte » Thu Jul 05, 2012 2:54 pm

Hi guys,

I just got my TS419P II, I also ordered two WD 2TB drives and still have two "old" 1TB drives from an old PC.
My question is:
Is it at all possible to combine the two 1TBs into a virtual 2TB and then have that alongside my two physical 2TBs in a RAID5?

I am happy to read up on and/or do it manually via ssh, but I just wanted to know if anybody already had such a setup or if it's just not possible with the stock firmware (I Live Updated to the latest Version).

To clarify: I already tried the Volume Manager with JBOD and RAID0 but I cannot select the combined disk for the RAID5-Array later on.

Thanks guys,
derdritte

No, QNAP is using plain md software RAID - and such combinations can't work at all.

Thanks for the quick answer, I guess I am getting another 2TB drive then.

Have a good week!
