Downgrade Raid 5 to Raid 1?

Postby Nick57 » Mon Aug 13, 2012 3:12 am

Is it possible to downgrade my raid 5 to a raid 1?

Current config: Raid 5 with 3 disks and a global spare.

Wanted config: Raid 1 with 2 disks and assign a global spare and use disk 4 for remote replication.

My idea is to copy first all data to my disk 4 which is taken out of the global spare config.

How to realise this?

You cannot downgrade the raid.
Search (upper right hand corner) before posting.

Solved!

Formatted the spare disk and copied all the files to that disk.
Broke the raid 5, building a new raid 1 now.
But I am already convinced that after all this waiting and work, it is not solving my write speed problem.

Won't come back to give any more feedback this is the end of this thread!
