Hello
QNAP Model Name: TS-EC1279U-RP
Firmware Version: 4.0.5 Build 20131023
We have a 30 TB RAID5 storage pool and on that pool there is 28 TB volume which is connected to my backup server via iscsi. Altough we delete some data on the iscsi disk, nas device still gives threeshold warning. The storage pool was created as thin disk.
So I wonder:
1. why does the nas device still give me threshold warning? Is it about thin provisioning? only half of the capacity is used on iscsi disk in os, so can i say there is no problem?
2. Is there a way converting thin volume to thick?
3. The device is fully populated. If we decide to buy an expansion unite and create a thick provisioned storage pool, is there a way to migrate volume on the pool?
4. What is the maximum volume size for this device, i couldn't find information about it
Thanks in advance
Best regards

Were you getting this message from the start, have you overprovisioned it?

Re: QNAP TS-EC1279U-TP volume migration
Hi
Sorry abbout late reply.
I was not getting this message from the start.
I have created a RAID5 storage pool, and created a lun which has same size as the storage pool. And the lun is thin-provisioned.
I wrote wrong in my previous post. I did not create any volume. Only just a RAID5 storage pool and a thin-provisioned LUN.
I've ignored the problem since this morning, because in my windows server I was seeing half capacity of the iscsi disk was free. I thought it was just about the NAS device and thin provisioning. But this morning my disk has gone offline because of "out of disk space". I've tried to bring it online several time, now it is online but tomorrow ı don't know what wil happen!!!

I have the exact same issue: 'why does the nas device still give me threshold warning? Is it about thin provisioning? only half of the capacity is used on iscsi disk in os'
Is there a solution for this?
