S.M.A.R.T. information

Post by fiwija »

Hi

In the HDD SMART windows you can read a lot of information's for your hard drives health/performance situation.
Some are you aware of others not. Normal you are not special interested to know these performance counters.
I migrated to new HDD and where interested in those numbers.

?? is the SMART software ok ?

E.g. Spin_up_times 8258 on a new disk that has been booted 4-5 time?
Same to Power_on_hours 330 - and I know we are on the first operations week? Are we talking of "Earth Hours" or?

Is there a good explanation to this issue ?

That doesn't sound like a "new" drive at all. How much of discount did you get for accepting a "used" drive?

Aren't you misreading this? It's Spin_Up_Time, not "Times". High value is actually good. Low value (below threshold) indicates that a drive takes longer than expected to spin up to its rated speed and might indicate either a controller or a spindle bearing problem.
