you don't have permission to rename the item (Yosemite0

Post by herksen »

Hi there

I have several QNAPS, and I'm accessing them mainly via Macs (running OSX 10.10.2 Yosemite)
Since a couple of weeks I get this error when I want to change a directoryname on my server:
you_dont_have_permission.png
I'm logged into my Mac with admin rights, and same goes for the the QNAP.

I have several customers also reporting this error, also accessing QNAP units and from Macs running OSX Yosimite, (running QNAPs FW 4.1.1)

Is this a bug??

Any hints would be very appreciated
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

looks like a local issue, rather then a qnap issue. :S

If you have any experience in this area: what could be a local issue? We have several OS X client's on different versions. Yosemite and El Capitan since a few days. Issues remain. Tried to rebuild all rights on QNAP, issues remain. No idea where to look.

IMHO it's NOT in the webclient of 'a computer'

It's on the QNAP...

Advanced Folder Permissions enabled, or operating on plain shared folder access rights?

How were these folders or files created?

Shared folder containing Multimedia files, probably indexed/thumbnailed/transcoded by the NAS?

Same folder or file in access by other access protocols?

Multiple users working on the folder or file, probably having work files open?

Accessing the NAS by AFP, SMB, WebDAV, ... from the Mac where attempting to rename?

How is the U**x protection mask of the folder (and the folder above) look like on the NAS?

How is the POSIX ACL of the folder (and the folder above) look like on the NAS?

Schumaku to the rescue!!!!
Thanks for your questions!!!
Much appreciated!!

-Advanced Folder Permissions = enabled
-The many Folders were created by several users. Users have R/W rights in most of the shares, and the renaming problem occurs only in mentioned R/W shares.
-Multimedia is not used (related services are off..)
-All shares are automatically connected in CIFS mode (using DriveMounter, a Mac app) on all Macs (10 or so), (AFP is not used anymore)
-Good question: does this happen when multiple access? Actually, when a file is opened by one user, and then opened by another user, I guess
that last user will get a message that that file is in use, and can only be read in R/O mode.
-I can't check the Unix Protection Mask (UPM) of that folder anymore, because, in order to help the user asap, I quickly logged in via remote (VPN) and renamed/deleted the folder using the FileStation interface. Next time this error occurs, I will check the UPM before I fix it. Same answer for the POSIX ACL.
Will check next time!!

Cheers

Robbert

Advanced Folder Permissions enabled, or operating on plain shared folder access rights?
Advanced Folder Permission enabled
How were these folders or files created?
mixed. some were copied from older NAS, some were created by different users of the NAS
Shared folder containing Multimedia files, probably indexed/thumbnailed/transcoded by the NAS?
no
Same folder or file in access by other access protocols?
only SMB activated
Multiple users working on the folder or file, probably having work files open?
no
Accessing the NAS by AFP, SMB, WebDAV, ... from the Mac where attempting to rename?
SMB3 enabled as highest possible SMB version as we are using 10Gbit connection
How is the U**x protection mask of the folder (and the folder above) look like on the NAS?
sorry no idea, how can I check that? :S
How is the POSIX ACL of the folder (and the folder above) look like on the NAS?
sorry no idea, how can I check that? :S

Today I experienced the following:
I tried to rename a folder which I couldn't rename yesterday. Today also the OS X User/password dialog popped up, but after the dialog I didn't get the 'permission denied' dialog but was able to rename this folder!! After that I could rename the folder as I liked, no dialog appeared anymore. But only for this folder, not other ones.

thanks for your help!

@ gerfried.guggi

Do you have the same problem that I have (though incidentally)?

Cheers

Yes I do ... I'm in contact with QNAP helpdesk, the latest answer is the following, not exactly shure what this command will do ... any idea?
if the owner is admin and admin has r/w, you are login as admin and perform the folder operation, it should not be denied.

If it still does not work, please try the following steps:

In Console:

cp /etc/default_config/smb.conf /mnt/HDA_ROOT/.config/

cp /etc/default_config/uLinux.conf /mnt/HDA_ROOT/.config/

Please also copy the configuration file before that.

Otherwise you could try to press the "reset" button for 10 seconds.
Locked

Return to “Mac OS”
