Qsync on steroids

Post by jobzesage »

Hi there,

I've been trying to use Qsync to move heavy raw video files between post-production film houses. Being a bit creative here ;-)

We have now a 200Mb/s Internet link between the locations. A typical transfer will vary from 100MB to 500GB, and from 1 to hundreds of files.

The Qnap is in one of the location, the local transfer seemed to happen at a decent speed. But the transfer over the Internet ran only at about 30Mb/s. We tried to use FTP to the same QNAP box, and we get roughly 160Mb/s in throughoutput.

The way we want to use it, is that during a session with a client, a worker in a location can create new versions of a file, and by being exported in the Qsync folder, they would automatically pushed locally on the local folder of the copmuter running the session with the client.

I will test Yummy FTP Watcher since FTP performs so much better, but it's not quite as good as the sync runs on a schedule.

Do you have any idea why Qsync is "so slow" ;-) over the internet?
