How to access my NAS via browser if cloud service is enabled

Post by Niffchen »

Hello,

I have a question and hope you can help me.
I have a TS-231 and the cloud service is already enabled. I seem to get full access with the QNAP apps. Everything works fine.
But my question is if I can get access to my data via normal browser requests? Is this possible?
I'm not sure what cloud für QNAP means.
I hope anyone of you can help me.

Regards,
Jens

If your MyQNAPCloud.com address is correctly configured, you can access your NAS at: http://XXXXXX.myqnapcloud.com:8080/ or (preferably) https://XXXXXX.myqnapcloud.com/ when you are "outside" your network.

For this to work, your MyQNAPCloud.com address needs t o point to the external IP address of your Router, and you need to have ports 443/TCP and 8080/TCP port-forwarded from your Router to your NAS.

Or you did use vpn, configured in your router (thats my way). If you use an AVM-Router, it is quite easy.

Through myqnadcloud site visits are not suitable for a large amount of data, I suggest that can login to your router to check your router's WAN IP, then access your NAS by WAN IP such as http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, just like you are trying to access NAS through LAN IP (http://192.168.1.XXX)at your home.

Hope the information can help you.

Where did you learn this fantasy? There is no difference between access the NAS by WAN IP such as http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080/, or accessing the NAS at it's MyQNAPCloud.com FQDN like: http://XXXXXXXX.myqnapcloud.com, as this too means accessing the NAS via the external IP address.

The difference is that thehttp://XXXXXXXX.myqnapcloud.com URL is constant, and remains valid even if your external IP changes. (It will auto-update to reflect the new external IP address).

Please review the MyQNAPCloud Service section of the fine manual. Your understanding of it is "broken".

thanks for advice, the http://XXXXXXXX.myqnapcloud.com not just do the same work as DDNS like (oray, no-ip, 3322.org) but also do the Network proxy, that means all the data from NAS will through the myqnapcloud server, it is not suitable for a large amount of data (qnap.com has the official explanation )

if you access your NAS by WAN IP, it is like a P2P transmission which without myqnapcloud server to participate in, that is faster and more efficient.

by the way: If you don't have a WAN IP you can still through the myqnapcloud server to access the NAS, but you can not visit NAS by WAN IP directly!

i think this can proved what i said above:)

Invest in better Glue. Your version of reality is warped. There is no proxy in play when you access http://XXXXXXXX.myqnapcloud.com:8081/transmission/, similarly there is no proxy involved when you access: http://widownet.myqnapcloud.com:9091/transmission/web/. You are accessing your own NAS directly with no QNAP server involvement whatsoever.

Similarly when you access http://XXXXXXXX.myqnapcloud.com:8080/ or https://XXXXXXXX.myqnapcloud.com/ you also are going directly. Don't take my word for it, access the command line of any of your Computers or NAS devices, and run:

Code: Select all

nslookup XXXXXXXXX.myqnapcloud.com
This command will return the external IP address of your Router, as this is where anyone using your XXXXXXXX.myqnapcloud.com will end up. I believe you are confusing the MyQNAPCloud Service (documented in the fine manual), with CloudLink, the QPKG that permits accessing your NAS via QNAP's servers, with the usual bandwidth restrictions in place on these types of services.

Hi, To access your web apps on NAS by browser, you need not only specify its IP address (or xxxx.myqnapcloud.com) but also its port number. The default port is 8080 for http and 443 for https. For example, xxxx.myqnapcloud.com:8080.

You can also use this link www.myqnapcloud.com/cloudlink/your-device-name to find your NAS. You then do not worry about the port number, since it will probe your NAS on the fly and redirect your browser to your QTS web desktop. However, in order to protect your NAS from unwanted access, you need to sign in www.myqnapcloud.com web site for this link to work.
