QCenter email notification

I have installed the qcenter appliance on VMWare, everything seems to work except for the email notfocation settings. I have tested (via putty) that port 25 is open to the email server from the qcenter server, and it is. Webgui will not send test email with config settings (which are the same for the qnap servers !!!)

SMTP Server is <IP Address>
SMTP Port 25
Email address something@domain.com
Password <blank>
Secure Connection none

Tried with SSL and TLS as well

As I said email configuration is the same as other QNAP devices and Ubuntu servers, which all work.

Anyone seen this as well?

same issue here..

exactly what you describe... SMTP Settings are configured on a 253, 453 and 869 Pro (all v 4.2.0) - smtp notification works.

if i configure the qcenter with the same paramter the message cannot be send.. looks like a QCenter SMTP Issue, i cannot see any connection attempts on my SMTP Server from the Qcenter..

PS.: My QCenter runs directly on the 453 Pro

After consulted with our test engineers and try it myself, this functions seem ok and I can receive the test mail from Q'center, the settings are show as below:

Still, due to we using Gmail Account to setup SMTP and should be different from the environment you have,

Gmail requires SMTP authentication - see gmail "If your client does not support SMTP authentication, you won't be able to send mail through your client using your Gmail address."

It would be nice if QNAP would add this basic functionality

I've just set one of my NAS's up with notification against gmail and confirm it works here using SSL or TLS ports.

We have Microsoft Exchange 2010 and it does not work for that. Of course when we try with Gmail then it does.

So it seems to be a bugs for supporting Microsoft Exchange 2010, we will conduct a test in short time.

Thanks for your track, we already received you or other user feedback regarding the windows exchange server issue and conducted fixed accordingly.
The new V1.3 version should contain those fix and it will be released at May along with QTS new 4.2.2 for testing and fixing other issues are needed.
I will updated at this forum when the new version is released.

Dear all,

in the last QCenter Version [1.3.413 (20160525)] the email notification over a exchange (without auth) works for me.

Looks like that the issue was processed.


PS: A additional nice feature would be a option to send a mail when a new firmware to download are available - i will open a new feature request - hope this is possible

I also encountered the same problem with notification of an Exchange 2010 server .

SMTP server: 192.168.x.x
SMTP Port : 25
E -mail: mon.email@my.domain
password: empty
Secure Connection : none

test result:
The test email could not be sent. Make sure your settings are correct and that the network connection is active.

I could get my 7 QNAP in QCENTER but can not receive notifications.

Someone would have a solution?

Currently Q'cetner Virtual Appliance version is older than Q'center QTS App, but we are doing our best to speed up the development and it is already under quality test and bug fix. I will post the news on this forum when new version for Hyper-V is available!
