[solved] QNAP can't access internet / fritzbox

Postby delos » Sun Jul 29, 2012 9:45 pm

Hi,

Obviously, my qnap 859 pro+ cannot reach the internet. Neither time synchronization, nor online update, or anti-virus download works.
Error message is always: cannot reach something....
I got a Fritzbox as a router but there is no active firewall and all the other devices like notbooks, computers, TV's aso have access to the internet.

Is it a known problem?

Best regards,
delos

This usually means that something is not configured correctly in your network settings on the QNAP. Check your subnet mask, gateway address, IP address, default gateway, etc.

Hi Don,

Thanks for your reply. Subnetmask, default gateway is all set like on my other computers attached to the router. IP-address is fixed though.
I can access the qnap without any problem. Also wake on lan works. Strange.

Grüezi, Ciao, Saluti, ...

Assuming IP address and subnet mask fit to your network, the default gateway is configued, as well as the DNS servers.

As only one inteface can hold the active default gateway in a static routing environment: Selected the active interface to hold the default gateway?

Hoi Zämme!

Sorry, don't know how I could change that.

My settings are (I just changed from fixed IP to DHCP):
Interface VLAN (Virtual LAN) DHCP IP Address Subnet Mask Gateway MAC Address Speed MTU Link Edit
Ethernet 2 None Yes 192.168.1.100 255.255.255.0 0.0.0.0 00:18:8A:A1:CA:51 1000Mbps 1500 Connect

Ethernet 1 is not connected!

Just browse down the page - System Administration -> Network -> [TCP/IP]

Default Gateway

Use the settings from:
[Ethernet 1] ¦ [Ethernet 2] ...

(and the default is typically the wrong one 8) )

Default gateway is the IP of my router like on the other machines. Is that wrong?

Now I get it. You're right. I checked "use from ETHERNET1". How stupid is that. Open eyes really help a lot.
It works now!

Thanks a lot,
