Who shutsdown regularly?

Postby Brycey » Fri Aug 17, 2012 10:59 pm

Hi all, just thought I'd ask a general question!

We all know that we can schedule a shutdown of our NAS for example overnight, so who actually does?

I don't but my backup starts at 11pm and takes anything from 10 minutes to 2 hours, then the anti-virus check starts at 2am and finishes 5 hours later! I guess there are other system maintenance tasks running that I'm not aware of as well.

That doesn't leave anytime to have it switched off overnight. I'd rather these jobs happened at night as well for performance reasons.

Not me. All production units run 24/7.

I only use the power-on schedule to bring the remote NASes up after a longer power outage (when the UPS have shut it down completely).
No, RAID has never ever been a replacement for backups. Without backups you will eventually lose data!

I do. My NAS shuts down at 10pm and turns on at 6am every day.
