Hi guys,
I am Sam from QNAP, let me introduce myself briefly.
I've just joined QNAP NAS team. Based on the experience that I am product manager of software and digital signage system(QNAP), I will try to help if I could answer some questions, also act as a bridge between the forum and QNAP staff.
As I’m located at QNAP’s headquarters in Taiwan, I will be available during Taiwan offices hours which are GMT +8 and as such I hope you’ll understand that there will be a certain delay before I can answer some questions. I also have other duties at QNAP beyond the forums and as I implied, I’m not “tech support” as such, so if it’s an urgent issue, please use the normal channels to get QNAP’s tech support. Anyway I will do my best to help to get solution and reply ASAP.
Sam

Good luck and don't take the abuse you will get here personal!

RAID have never ever been a replacement for backups. Without backups on a different system (preferably placed at another site), you will eventually lose data!
A non-RAID configuration (including RAID 0, which isn't really RAID) with a backup on a separate media protects your data far better than any RAID-volume without backup.
All data storage consists of both the primary storage and the backups. It's your money and your data, spend the storage budget wisely or pay with your data!
