Really stupid thing...no more remote access...

Post by SGResu »

Hi all,
I made a really stupid thing, I removed the admin user from the list of remote allowed user file /mnt/HDA_ROOT/.config/ssh/sshd_config
Now I'm not able to access the qnap with putty. How can I resolve it?
I just can access the qnap from the browser, port 8080, but there is no admin shell...

:(

You can trivially fix the file via shellshock exploit if you have not updated to 4.1.1 Build 0927 and/or did not install the Qfix. :D

If you don't feel like testing your hacking skills, and you have GUI access, just enable Telnet temporarily.

unfortunately i upgraded the firmware yesterday...
plus, the qnap is under a nat network. I should do a port forwarding for the telnet port(23, correct?) but I'm not able to do the ssh tunnell...so there is no way to enable the port becouse I should be in the nat.
(bad english and bad hacking skill sorry...i'm just a newbie)

I'll be there(the nas is at my parents house) sunday...what tellnet commad should I use?

thank you for your reply

EDIT: I have another user, who is in the remote allowed list: amule (cough cough...)

but the ssh tunnel is not working anynmore after the firmware update:

You use telnet exactly like SSH. Simply enable telnet in the GUI. No special command.

Also, SSH on QNAP is admin only, spare yourself the pointless tweaking efforts. Will never work for any other user. (Won't address your SSH tunnel or whatever other issues unrelated to QNAP here, sorry.)

If it's urgent, you could use Teamviewer or something similar to get LAN access, just get your parents to run it.
