UPS for 2 870

Post by paolomarino »

Hi.

I have two 870 pro and i need to buy an UPS to protect them.
Have this enough power to givee me 5 minutes to shutdown the Nas ?
http://www.apc.com/shop/it/it/products/ ... V/P-SC420I
I need to connect to the UPS the two 870 pro with 8 WD red and 8 HTSG, one 8 port switch, the adsl router and a double slot USB box.

Thanks for the info :)

Add the energy usage in W usage of each device you intend to plug - then consult the graph here -> http://www.apc.com/products/runtimegrap ... Size=large - and don't forget the load can be higher during the shutdown than while idling.

By rule of thumb ... as the specs for a TS-870U-RP ... In Operation: 155.2 W (with 8 x Hitachi HUA723020ALA640 hard drive installed) ... a random 8 port GbE switch 15W, a random ADSL router with some GbE ports and WLAN 15W ... so this adds to about 350 W. More than the tiny APC can supply by the way.

Don't forget that batteries are loosing capacity over time - so the autonomy will come down. So calculate a little bit more than just five minutes.

Thanks for the tip schumaku :)
I can move to the bigger: http://www.apc.com/shop/it/it/products/ ... /P-SMT750I

But i find the specs of the 870 pro and it said "In Operation: 58.9W": https://www.qnap.com/i/en/product/model ... 08&event=2
Is it possible ? I think it is too low. Maybe it is without disks. 8 disk (10W each). Total 140W for each Nas.
So 140*2=280+15+15+15=325+20%=400W (the 750VA have 500W) http://www.apc.com/products/runtimegrap ... Size=large
