Can anyone confirm that SNMP doesnt work as soon as PPTP vpn is being enabled? In my opinion they dont share the same port but for some reason this strange behaviour occurs on multiple qnap systems I have.

Re: SNMP disabled when PPTP vpn is enabled
Hello Vince,
Done a lot of SNMP testing and checking on QTS 4.1 20131219 on TS-x59 and ARM NAS (and 20131220 on TS-x69 and up). Can't see any issues with OpenVPN and/or PPTP enabled.
What exactly is the issue, which firmware and build version, and how do you spotted the suspect issue? Does a walk or sub-tree get timeout for example?
Have by mistake configured VPN IP sub-networks in the same sub-net deployed on a connected subnet for example?
Regards,
-Kurt.

Re: SNMP disabled when PPTP vpn is enabled
I have exactly the same problem. I am running 3.8.4 Build 20130816 on a TS-239 Pro II. My PPTP is configured on a separate subnet. When I establish a VPN connection, use it for a few minutes, then disconnect - SNMP is no longer working. I have to go into the console, disable SNMP, then re-enable SNMP to get it working again. This problem has existed in several of the 3.x releases I installed.

I also have the same problem.
I'm using TS-220 with 4.1 (2014/06/12), and the situation is same to johnf's.
When a PPTP connection is active, "Segmentation fault" occured.
After a PPTP connection is disconnected, no problem.

Code: Select all
# /etc/init.d/snmp start

Re: SNMP disabled when PPTP vpn is enabled
You should not use the PPTP garbage ( totally insecure) in the first place. Non-issue.
I'm gone from this forum till QNAP stop wasting volunteers' time. Get help from QNAP helpdesk instead.

You're right . Now, I've shifted to OpenVPN.
