Hi,
for quite a long time I wondered why my external eSata drive won't spin down while the internal drive does and other usb-connected drives also go to standby...
Today I did some tests with blkdevMonitor skript and added sdz to the skript routines and surprise: the eSata drive spins down!
It is mounted as: /dev/sdz1 on /share/external/sdz1 type ext4 (rw)
So the question is, what goes wrong?
In qnap webadministration I set the hdd standbytime to 5min.
Has Qnap forgotten to send spin down command to sdz drives?
Or is the hdd controller in external enclosure responible for standby? I think it's possible because I had never heard/felt/seen a spin down in my external eSata drives even on pc. (it's a sharkoon, see below).
nas: qnap ts-119
fw: 3.7.1
external hdd: sharkoon rapid case esata + wd30ezrx
internal hdd: wd30ezrx
