Greetings from South Africa

Postby Mike61 » Tue Jul 17, 2012 7:11 pm

Hi my name is Michael and I have just installed my TS-1279U-RP. I am currently using 10 3TB drives and have upgraded the memory to 4MB. This is an amazing NAS especially as I have been using 2 Seagate 440's which are as fast as garden snails on morphine. I have a lot to learn about using this unit so I hope I learn a lot from this forum.

Hi Michael,
10 3TB ... what kind of use do you have? I do have 1 TB, which is already quite difficult to fill up.
cheers

Hi Stanislas, I have a tendency to go overboard in most things. I have thousands of HD movies and series. I have two sons sharing the network so all our music, shared programs etc. Of course I have a lot of empty space. I will be using most of the features provided eg downloading using the qnap directly without the need to have any pc's switched on. I think I have a total of approx 45TB with my other nas server and including all the drive space in our pc's. Bit crazy I know but I don't have to use space sparingly.

well was just curious...
on my side I have been using QNAP nas for six months and my feedback would be the following : great hardware but a lot of work at the beginning to make it work properly.
