Hey,
The people responsible for writing down the corresponding username and passwords for the QNAP TS-439, TS-639, TS-809 and TS-809U-RP have forgotten to record that specific data.
So I have one big problem; I don't know the U&P anymore. These NAS-devices are not nearby, so driving to these locations is so to say impossible and the on-site staff isn't able to help me out. Is there some kind of 'root' account via SSH and/or Web GUI?
Please help us.
Kind regards,
Canefield

the admin password IS the root account. The only procedure I know is to press the reset button at the back for +/- 4 seconds (one beep). This resets passwords and network config to defaults (admin/admin and DHCP). Do not press it too long, when you hear two beeps the whole configuration is gone!

Thanks a lot guys...but I cann't afford a system reset.
Everything is running 24/7. The IP-address is static and staff on-site cann't help at all. I've tried contacting QNAP Taiwan and VS, but no reply.
Hopefully someone has an answer.
Bye bye.

Hi canefield,
There's no backdoor account on QNAP NAS.
If you'e forgotten the admin password, you must reset the NAS by pressing the rear rset button for about 3 seconds (you'll hear a beep).
It'll reset to default admin password: 'admin'
and default network settings: such as 8080 port for management, no jumbo frame, DHCP client, reset ip filter..etc.

Hi Father_mande.
Thank you for your answer.
Im a newbie in linux, so i was afraid to loose it all.
I contacted Qnap, got ticket, and soon i was helped out by Fred Hsu.
He did somthin like you wrote here.
Again, Thanks a million
