I have a TS-210 and I would like to know if it is possible to mount an external USB DVD reader/writer.
Although long term writing would be nice I am mostly interested in reading, specifically for backing up DVDs to ISOs.
Can you please tell me if this will be possible.
Thank you!
USB 2.0 is too slow too stream DVD data anyway, so I really don't see the point of this exercise. (Your TS-210 only has a USB 2.0 controller in it)
Wouldn't it be easier to use it with your PC/Mac, and then use software such as
imgburn to rip your DVD's to ISO's. Once your "disks" are turned into ISO's, they can be uploaded to your NAS, and "mounted" on your NAS without any form of optical device attached to your NAS at all.
Check out:

ISO SHARE FOLDERS (tab)

See the
ISO Share Folders subsection within the
Share Folders section of the
QNAP Turbo NAS User Manual for information on this feature.
Caveat: Please be aware that many MediaPlayers can load ISO's directly, so you should not need to "mount" your Audio/Video ISO's at all.
