Update Hard Drive firmware in TS-419P+

Post by mccltd »

Hi,
I'm running a ts-419p+ with 4 x Seagate 2tb drives in raid 5.
They are model ST32000542AS and running firmware CC34.
I notice there is a CC35 firmware out there and wondered how I go about upgrading the drives firmwares.
Can they be done in the QNAP or do I have to add them to a computer running Windows or Leopard. (have accesss to both)
If I have to pull them and flash them from within a computer can I just pull one out at a time, plug it into a windows machine, flash it and put it back in?
If I do this when I put it back into the NAS will it have to rebuild the array before I pull another one to do the same?

Many thanks,
Dave.

Strongly suggest to simply shotdown the NAS, note or mark the drive slots just in case, update all HDD firmware externally, and then power-up and boot the NAS again. Should not take much more than half of an hour.
