No doubt, there are Apple applications making use of extended functions of AFP. Disputeable how smart that is - but realistically, Apple has never taken care of infrastructurer not carrying the logo. So complain with Apple about the fact that more and more iApplications are no longer compatible to industry standard servers and protocols.
However, Enough Apple users have problems with both services announced by Bonjour, and by accidentially mixing AFP and SAMBA connection. At no time I have never stated QNAP has the best possible Apple support: There is a lot of room to enhance - on the Bonjour announcement, on the TimeMachine support, ...
