TS-879 pro - preventing HDD spindown

Ciao there,

since i've updated my nas to firmware 3.5.2 Build 1126T my harddisks are spinning down for some
reason i don't understand. under "Hardware" i've disabled the "Enable hard disk standby mode...." checkbox.
I've seen that this problem is not only issued by me - but i couldn't find any working solution for me.

Is this a known bug or is there anything else i could do as a workaround?

It have been a problem previously, I don't know the current status.

You could try to enable the spin-down and then disable it again.

If that doesn't help, enabling the WINS-server (first option on the advanced tab) is a workaround that will keep the disks active.

Before i did my first post i've allready double checked the part with enabling and disabling
the spin down checkbox with no success.

right now I wanted to enable the wins sever, loged into my nas and saw the nice popup
"a newer firmware version....." is available for download.

allright, that's looking good i'll upgrade my nas to 3.5.3 Build0130T and hope that things will
go right. i keep you posted.

After installing the new Firmwareupdate, my HDDs are running and running. It works . Problem Solved.

can you please tell if the ts-879 pro is noisy?

From what i've read it supposed to be a very silent product:
Sound Level (dB)
Stand by: 25.87 dB
In operation: 27.4 dB
(with 8 x 1TB HDD installed)

And what do u think of the PSU fan?
