TS-109 software update

Postby RBG » Sat Feb 11, 2012 11:38 pm

I have a QNAPS TS-109 with Slimserver 6.5.4 on board. Using QPKG I have software 3.3.1 build 0834T.I am feeding my music from the QNAPS to a Logitech squeezebox 3 player and successfully. I notice on the QNAPS Support website that the TS-109 in NOT on the list of 'Applied Models' for which more recent sofware is available.

However,

1 Access to 'squeezenetwork' is denied and I have problems using internet radio with AlianBBC no longer operating and signing up to iplayer a problem
Logitech have taken over slimserver and there are several 7.x.x versions available from Logitech. I have installed Logitech Mediaserver on my PC. I have been told by some that Logitech 7.x.x versions should be available to the QNAPS. Others have said that my TS 109 is too old to take the latest server software.
2. So can I update the software on the QNAPS or is 6.5.4 as far as I can get on a TS-109 ?

Hope you can help,

RBG

Like you I have a QNAP TS-109 feeding Slimserver to a Squeezebox 3 and a Boom. Until recently I was using firmware 3.10 and Squeezecentre 7.2 installed by SSOTS 3.15 which seemed from my efforts to be the last versions that worked.. However I revisited these forums last week and noticed there was a QPKG for Logitech Media Server 7.7.1R2 for the TS-109 available for download on the QNAP Squeezebox Server forum.

I stopped Slimserver then uninstalled it with SSOTS. Then I removed SSOTS and updated the TS-109 to the latest firmware. I then downloaded and installed the LMS QPKG and was very pleasantly surprised that it just worked and seemed faster too.

I don't use Squeezenetwork but internet radio and BBC iPlayer work fine and come in the package.

Hope this helps, It's certainly revitalised my Squeezebox setup which was getting long in the tooth.

Doug.

Doug,
That sounds very interesting. I just about followed your sequence of events. However, I have tried and failed to uninstall Slimserver (using PUTTY). Can you give me a little more detail on how you uninstalled your Slimserver . I have looked down the official list list of QPKG plug ins using the QNAPS interface and LMS is not there only SS 7.6.1. Where did you find your LMS update. I have LMS on my PC via the Logitech website.

As I think I said before, I used SSOTS 3.15 to stop and then uninstall the previous Squeezecentre so I didn't dive in and manually delete anything. The options to manage the old Squeezecentre are in the SSOTS.
As a separate SSOTS is no longer needed for the new setup that was then removed before updating to the latest TS109 firmware.
You're right that the official list of QPKG plugins from the interface only offers LMS 7.6.1. In fact when selected I noticed LMS 7.5.1 was about to be downloaded.
I downloaded LMS 7.7.1 from the link given in these forums viewtopic.php?f=123&t=35740 (selecting the arm based 109,209 & 409 series.)

Doug
Did your settings/preferences get preserved? I looked at the SSOTS uninstall page and it said all data including preferences would get erased...
Thx
