can I remove a LUN from a target?

I have added a second LUN to a target, but I can't utilise it (reason irrelevant). Can I remove it safely? How?

Let me clarify that disabling and then detaching the LUN from the target is quite clear, but I don't know how safe it is.

The addition failed because my VMware ESX host for some reason cannot take advantage of the second LUN. I have asked for assistance at VMware's forum.

I hope someone here can write a few words of advice.
