External storage only showing 486MB of 3TB

Postby datorexpert » Sun Apr 01, 2012 6:04 pm

I connected a LaCie d2 Quadra v3 with 3TB as external storage to SS-839 but when I format it I only get 486MB as available disk. WHY???

eSATA or USB connected?

No experience with the SS-839 (nor any SS-x39). Potentially an (e)SATA contoller not able to support drives larger than 2 TB, similar all earlier TS-509?

Give a try to remove all existing partitions (ie. from a Windows or IOS X system) and use the USB connection. If that does still not unveil the full capacity, some 64-bit feature required have not made it into the SS-x39 builds, potentially because of there was no need as the internal capacity can hadly exceed 16 TB.

As said: USB or eSata, and: Did you format it connected to the qnap?

There is a post here about the 2TB version working well. viewtopic.php?f=182&t=56843
