Webserver/website.

Postby Sadsad » Sun Apr 15, 2012 6:58 pm

i have now read every inch off this forum and i are totally confused, how to make my own website?

Installed MYSQL and PHPMyAdmin # made Databases for Joomla/website.

Installed Joomla With a different template; # Qweb/Youmedia

too start off i needed my WEBSERVER STARTED: 192.168.1.198:8082/youmedia # Works!

How to get rid off this? virtual host?

Portforwording/ Ruter. 8082. Port.? #Works!

Not to the big Question:!! I have bought a Domain on internet, how can i get that connected to my NAS/website?
Dydns do not support ports/ip forwarding. http://myip:8082/Youmedia # Mystatic ip.
How can i get rid off the Port number and be like www.MyboughtdomainNASwebsite.com :?:

... what is the content of your actual Web page, stroed in the //nas/Web share - corect.

By default, the QNAP NAS Web server is configured on port 80, so no need to provide the port.

Why have _you_ changed the Web server config from 80 to 8082?

This is a good question.. would like to know too :)

@Shumaku: sometimes ISP's block the standard port for selfhosting a website (i.e. port 80) .. i think that's why he/she uses another port.
That is what i did too. Now i'm able to connect to my website from the internet... otherwise i couldn't.

But now the question remains:
So if i write, http://www.myboughtdomainnaswebsite.com:8082 im ending on Webserversetupguide....

How to fix this on our NAS?

Understood - however, the user is asking why he can't use just the plain URL ... without the special port

What question? The guide is simply the default content on the NAS Web server - a good indidcation that the Web server is reachable from the Internet - the content (stored in the Web or on older NAS models Qweb share) can be replaced by whatever content you intend to serve. 8)

For http, the port defaults to 80; for https, the port default to 443 - so no need to add it the URL.

Have explicitly defined access for the "everyone" group for example? This will reliably deny acces to anyone...

You have to configure port 80 for the Web server ... as it is by default.

Have installed or configured something else (ie. the NAS Admin Web UI port for http) to use port 80?

Port 80 not forwarded? Port 80 blocked by your ISP? Port 80 not able to "loopback" on the WAN/Internet side of the router when testing from the LAN? Port 80 reserved resp. in your on the WAN/Internet-side of your router - disable Internet-access to the router Web UI for example.

Please re-think you you have changed the NAS default Web server port from 80 to 8082 - and what oyu had to do on the infrastructure (ie. router) to make it work please. Review my questions from the previous reply please...
