Windows XP Login in new Folder doesnt work

Sorry - i am a new User here. My englisch is not good

I have a brand new qnap 219 PII. I created a new Folder named "QNAP_DATEN1". The local Groups "parents" have read/write rights an the group "children" only read right. I alos defined two user each group.
On all windows XP PC´s i could see the Folder. But i could not create a connection with any of the user.

I also can see the Folder under Home>>Access Right Management >> Share Folders. I could see the user groups und i could see the users an that they belong to the defined groups. Whats the Problem?

No - there ist nothing i could see.

If i try to connect using the Explorer the login Window opens. I type in the Username and Password. The given Username "Georg" is then automatically changed to "QNAP\Georg". QNAP is the Name of my Server. But nothing else happens and i couldnt use the Folder - not for reading not for writing.

The access to the share(s) is/are granted to the user Georg, or a group where Georg is a member?

Password is set correct?

For simplicity, consider to use (enable if it's not yet) the login to your XP system using a username (Gerog) and a password. These credentials were used automatically when accessing the NAS..

ich versuchs mal in Deutsch, da ich annehme, dass Sie Deutsch sprechen.

Der User "Georg" ist Mitglied der Gruppe "Eltern" die Schreib- Leserechte auf die Freigabe hat. Aber wie bereits beschrieben wird im Fenster dann lediglich "QNAP\Georg" angegeben und nichts passiert. Das Passwort ist richtig eingegeben. Interessant ist, dass ich auf die Freigabe zugreifen kann, wenn ich diese auf Public setze. Dann ist schreiben und lesen ohne Probleme möglich.

Ich glaub ich mach nur irgendeine Kleinigkeit falsch - irgendein Haken den ich setzen muss sehe ich wohl nicht. Bin fast am verzweifeln.

I found the problem by myself! Since i changed the the Permission for the Group "everyone" from "Deny Access" to "Read Only" i could reach the Shared Folder from Windows XP.

Does anybody know why this is neccesary?

everybody deny = nobody allow ... think about it.

Still, a normal Public share to be used by any kind of users on teh LAN should be everyone: read+write & guest access: full. With your set-up, a (correctly) configured workgroup usser (same username and pasword on teh Windows client and on the NAS will get read-only access with your setting.

You have to uncheck all checkboxes for everyone then only the user or group with permissions have access to the share.
