Control NMP-1000P completely via UPnP

Postby airflow » Tue Jun 05, 2012 12:41 am

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying this product, as my Roku Soundbridge M2000 died.

I'd like to use it primarily for playing music, but also for video. The point is - I don't want to use the included remote-control with the menus provided by the device. Instead, I'd rather control it via a UPnP-Controlpoint. For example, BubbleUPnP for Android is such a program, which makes it possible to control all my media-playing devices in my household via one consitant interface.

As per specs, this should be possible - but I'd like to hear some feedback from somebody who has the box and who tried this out.

Thanks,
airflow

Not sure what specs you see here.

The NMP-1000P (nor theh NMP-1000) have DLNA DMR (digital Media Receiver) capability to be used from a DLNA DMC unfortunately.

Hi schumaku!

Well I mean exactly the spec you quoted: DLNA DMR capability should in my view mean that the device is being able to be controlled via another UPnP-controlpoint. The point of my post was to actually find someone who uses this functionality, so I can be sure it works OK.

Thanks,

Hi airflow,

If I'm right, you're asking for a render-function, so you can i.e. use an android tablet to choose a file from the NAS to be played on the nmp.
Well, with the default firmware you just have a upnp client on the nmp, so this won't work.

A media server for the nmp is available with OpenNMP (http://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/OpenNMP), but I don't have tried, if it also offers a render-function.
