Postby arginine » Sat Jun 16, 2012 5:25 am

Hi, I have updated my NMP 1000p with this new firmware.
My NMP has NO HARD DISK inside .... and the fan does NOT go off :-(

The chip is not at all at 54 °C

am I the only one with this issue ?

best,

Hi,

By design the fan is not supposed to go off.
Since 1.2.1 it slows down but it never goes off.

What ???

sorry but according the post of the firmware:

[Enhancements]
- If there is no internal HDD, then the fan will remain off until the system temperature reaches 54'C

Regarding your answer this statement is false .. and should be phrase like : If there is no internal HDD, then the fan speed will decrease until the system temperature reaches 54'C

Oh, sorry, that was my fault... I think I mixed somethin up.

Your're right, the release notes say that the fan should go off.

I also don't have an internal hdd installed and the fan also doesn't goes off. It only reduces the speed, so that I can't hear it anymore.

don't you think we could simply unplug the fan ?
in my case, I even leave the nmp box open for better air exchange

Well, if you don't worry to lose warranty...

My NMP had a seal and I'm happy that I have not opened it. After a broken flash or some kind of a defect on the mainboard, it was repaired by qnap without costs.
After repair there was a new seal on it, so qnap seems to take this seriously.

I also don't like the fan but at least it is almost not hearable since 1.2.1.
