Usb drive not detected on TS 109

Post by sbresin »

Hi,

Just got a TS 109, which is not able to detect an external usb disk. The same disk is detected by a TS 219p+. 109's Fimware is the latest available 3.3.2 Build 0918T.
On some topics, some people say one needs to boot without plugging the exteral drive. Some other say the opposite. In both case it does not work.

What could be done or test?

Thanks

Stanislas

The USB port(s) work with other disks?

# lsusb -v
...

Or check the Kernel messages after plugging:

# dmesg
...

hi

tried a couple of disks unsuccessfully

# lsusb -v

Error, cannot open USBIDS File "${datarootdir}/usb.ids", No such file or directory

Or check the Kernel messages after plugging:
# dmesg

Small correction ref. lsusb:

[~] # cd /mnt/ext/usr/local/share/
[/mnt/ext/usr/local/share] # lsusb
...
[/mnt/ext/usr/local/share] # lsusb -v
...

Would you mind to re-apply the firmware using the process as shown here http://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/Manually_Updating_Firmware please?

After fw update, disk was detected and formated to NTFS. 2 files were even copied successfully. However after rebooting the disk was not detected anymore...

lsusb -v does detect it though
