Printer scanner support

Postby barryso » Fri Jun 29, 2012 9:24 pm

Hi QNAP community.

I'm a newbeeie to the QNAP community. I've recently bought the QNAP 419P II - and managed to setup by printer (CANON MP520) as a shared network printer.

Using my desktop machine running Windows 7-x64 I have managed to add a new network printer (selected the Canon MP520 as the driver) and successfully printed a test page. But, I have lost the ability to perform scanning.

When the printer is attached locally to the desktop, then I can perform electronic scanning by selecting the 'scan' option on the Canon Printer Icon within the Printer Control panel. However, this 'feature' is not available in the networking equivalent to this.

Although this is probably not a QNAP issue per say, I am hoping that this scenario is common enough that someone has a suitable workaround (other than locally plugging int he printer!)

Hi Qnap Community,

This printer-scanning problem is still an issue I'm facing. Has anyone exerperienced similar issues and did any one have a solution?

Hi barryso,

Currently QNAP only supports printers but not scanning function.

Thank you for the response.
Guess I'll have to live with plugging and unplugging the printer/scanner into my local PC.
