Rsync replication error

Postby smith51 » Thu Jun 14, 2012 3:52 pm

Hello all,

I'm trying to backup some folder on another Qnap.
The test connection is successful.

Job Config :
- Server type : Rsync Server
- Port 873
Remote Host Testing : Success
--------------------------------------
Destination Path: unable to browse anything
Remain Capacity:Can not get remote host information.

However, when i type the destination path manually and I launch the job i get this error :

Code: Select all
rsync: Can't add an inotify watch of "/etc/config/rsync_schedule.conf" error! (28): No space left on device (28)

There is planty of space on the destination Qnap and the port 873 is open.

Any idea ?

Hi,
I updated the FW yesterday and started replication from one NAs to another. Today received the following message:
Date/Time: 2012/07/06 12:08:19
Level: Error
[Remote Replication] CopyDataV failed: rsync: Can't remove the inotify watch of "/etc/config/rsync_schedule.conf" 5427 error! (-22)#012: Invalid argument (22). Begin 1st retry.

An issue for QNAP Support?

Same issue but don't get it everytime. I would raise a case with QNAP support.

Hi smith51 and mastait,

Since the rsync job never succeeded, kindly make sure that the two following options have been enabled on the destination NAS :
- Enable backup from a remote server to the local host
- Allow remote Rsync server to back up data to NAS

Cheers

and why don't you roll the firmware back? Many people complain about the latest firmware version...

We've just started getting the error on one of our 12 QNAPs during its nightly backups (TS-809 running 3.7.1)

(7 of them are running 3.7.1, the remaining 5 are at various earlier versions).

[Remote Replication] jobname failed: rsync: Can't remove the
inotify watch of "/etc/config/rsync_schedule.conf" 40 error!
(-22)#012: Invalid argument (22).

Manually running the replication job from the web gui makes it run with no errors.

There are only minor differences between 3.7.0 and 3.7.1.

If the problem is actually possible to solve with a downgrade, you should probably go back to at least 3.6.1.
No, RAID has never ever been a replacement for backups. Without backups you will eventually lose data!

The error message
Can't remove the inotify watch of "/etc/config/rsync_schedule.conf
is confirmed by Qnap RD and will be fixed for next fw release.
