TS -409 Pro with 4 HD

Postby ghcwoo » Wed Jul 02, 2008 12:03 pm

I have just buy a TS-490 Pro and 4 WD 750 GB, now i want to have 1.5 T space in Stripped volumn, and then run a RAID 1 with the spare 2X750 GB, is that possible to do it on 490 Pro?

I'm thinking the way to do it,
Put the first 2 HD in the case first, and then run RAID 0.
after it finish the configuration.

put the other 2 HD in, then run RAID 1.

is this step correct?

Just wondering why you want to do this? If you configure all 4 drives as RAID 5 you'll have the same capacity but better overall data protection. Plus it would be easier to set up.
NAS: TS-509 Pro
Firmware: 3.8.1 build 1205T
Drives: 5 x Western Digital WD20EFRX (Red) 2TB drives (RAID5)

NAS: TS-409 Pro
Firmware: 3.3.2 build 0918T
Drives: 4 x Western Digital WD20EFRX (Red) 2TB drives (RAID0)
Note: TS-409 Disk Management GUI mostly non-functional with WD Red HDDs
