Can not access TwonkyMedia page after setting a password

Postby FrankGoller » Thu Nov 29, 2007 9:39 pm

Hi there,

After I enabled the UPnP MediaServer I defined a user and password. But now I can't log-in on the MediaServer configuration page (http://192.168.1.103:9000/) anymore (I'm 99% sure I use the right user and password) :(

I also tried to reset the TS-109, but only the admin password has been reset and not the Twonky....

Anybody out there any idea what I could do?

Cheers
Frank

Hi Ivan

It's me again. In the meantime I tried almost everything (e.g. firmware update, formatting of the HD), but the problem persists: I can't access the twonky server.

The file you mentioned to be deleted, how do I get there? Am I right to use telnet, if yes which IP address and port ID do i have to use?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance!

Cheers, Frank

Dear Frank!
Sorry for the very rough description. (I agree it is a mars language).
Please refer to the steps below:

1. Please make sure you have enabled the Telnet or SSH on your NAS.
2. Use Putty to SSH to the NAS. (it is running at port 22); Or you can also Telnet to your NAS.
ex: type "cmd" in your start menu, type in "telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 13131"

3. Use administrator account to log in. (admin:admin as example)
4. type in the command: " cd /mnt/HDA_ROOT/twonkymedia " You will enter the path.
5. type in " ls " you should see the files in the folder. You should be able to find the file.
6. typr in " rm twonkyvision-mediaserver.ini ".
7. Restart the server. (Go to web admin page, go to Network Services> Multimedia Station, Distable the "Enable UPnP MediaServer" and then re-enable it.

It should work. Sorry for the pain on setting it!
Let me know if it works for you.

Dear Frank:
Thanks for let us know it works, great!

I experienced the same difficulty with what you encountered. I'm also not a technical guy, same with other QNAPer here. We all are product managers. (as you know we are just marketing guys )

Wish you enjoy it.

Re: Can not access TwonkyMedia page after setting a password

Postby Martin.Fiala » Sat May 02, 2009 5:42 pm

Hi Ivan,

I have recently purchased TS-119 with the very latest firmware (v3.0.0 Build 0428).

After initial setup I was able to start the Multimedia station as well as access UPnP config web page.
However when I have chaned the user-name and password in the UPnP config web (http://ip:9000) & restarted, I cannot access it anymore (getting Cannot find the page error from IE6). Have tried the setup you suggested (deleting the ini file) and no change = still cannt access it.

Currently the whole UPnP seems to be screwed as I cannt access it from any other UPnP-compatible device (other Windows client/PS3).

Would very much appreciate your help.

Thx,
Martin

Just a quick note for anyone with this issue, but can't find the file mentioned - I found it in a different directory. Possibly just a newer firmware/twonk version or something. Anyway, here's where it was:

/mnt/HDA_ROOT/.config/twonkyvision-mediaserver.ini

I had to edit my file after setting the rescan time to -1 and found Twonky stopped responding completely.

Did you ever get an answer on this? I just ran into the same problem. I cannot access the media server anymore. ID and password appear not to be working anymore after the last reboot and firmware upgrade

I have a 419P, had the same problem, although I reset the password by accident with a spelling mistake, why oh why does the password reset not need confirmation, or in fact can you actually see the characters you are setting !!!

The default is not the correct file, everything in the instructions is correct, however the config file:

twonkyvision-mediaserver.ini

Is located in:

/mnt/HDA_ROOT/.config

So delete it from here, in Applications turn off and on the UPNP application and you are away.

I looked into my server 219P and I saw nothing like that. I don't see the locations being discussed.

All I can see are:

.bit tornado
.ssh

and a bunch of small files.
