QNAP Standby "wording" clarification

Post by sborg »

Hi everyone,

I just bought the TS-109 Pro and installed it, and the hdd actually goes to sleep according to the time on the configuration page. However I noticed some wording on the same page, which does not seem to make sense to me:

The wording is taken from the configuration page, under the section "System Tools" and the "Hardware Settings" screen. The wording goes like this:

Enable hard disk standby mode (if no access within xx minutes Power LED will glow in blue and Status LED will be off)

Now when I actually hear the hard disk spin down, after a couple of seconds, the Status LED turns off as intended, however the POWER LED never glows, but stays on.

Is this normal behaviour or is it some part of the Stand By feature not actually working (I don't know if the NAS itself has some sort of low-power standby mode as well)?

Firmware Version is 2.0.1 Build 0416T
HDD: Western Digital 1TB (WD10EACS)

Thanks!
Stefan

glow means that it is on. so that is absolut normal behavior.
