219P crash

Postby Aronfromthenorth » Sun Mar 19, 2017 10:07 pm

Hi! First post on this forum and hope i put this in the right place.

Been using my 219P for years with no problem. Yesterday i had a power breakdown during 219P upgrading firmware. After this i have no contact with the NAS. I have tried to take out the disc`s before power-up with no luck. Reset buttom on the back dont work, even after 30 sec push nothing happen.

Will be seriously happy for help on this.

Cheers
Espen

Sounds like you have a corrupted firmware

can qfinder see the nas? does it even fully boot?

search for "qnap manual firmware upgrade"

and log a call with qnap

invest in a ups

Never done this before so i must rely on the putty guide. Can you think of any problems i could run into? Very limited experience with "prompt" commanding but i can give it a go when i come home after work.

Try to see if you at least can login into the qnap by ssl.
If you do not perform any command, nothing will happend.

If you can login, i will guide you with a manual install from the FW.

Regards.

Hi
I tried using ip 169.254.100.100 but putty stayed black until message "session timeout" or something like that. The black screen has the word "inactive" at the top.

Espen,

192.168.254.100.100 is the internal IP of the NAS. You should use the local IP of the NAS, distributed by your modem/router.

Code: Select all

While sitting with the nas for 10 minutes it restarted 2 times without me doing nothing

Does not looks healthy. :S :S :S

What drives are in the nas? WD-RED or HGST?

Maybe it is time to buy a new NAS.

did you even try

search for "qnap manual firmware upgrade"

your firmware on the nas is almost certainly toast and needs re applying

if very unlucky OP might have to do this

https://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/Firmware_Recovery

When to use the firmware recovery guide

This firmware recovery guide is intended for users who encounter system startup failure due to incomplete or unsuccessful firmware update caused by power outage or network disconnection during the process. To verify if this guide applies to your NAS, follow the steps below:

1. Power off the NAS.
2. Remove all the hard disks.
3. Power on the NAS.
4. Wait for ten seconds and check if you hear a short beep.
5. After the short beep, wait for two minutes to check if you hear a long beep.
6. If you only hear a short beep or do not hear any beep, follow the instructions of this guide to recover your NAS.
