I have the same question. Trying to recover from a failed FW downgrade and thinking of doing the factory reset, but concerned if my encrypted shares will be inaccessible after the reset.

I had encrypted files and I reset my NAS by holding the reset button for 10 seconds. I could still access my encrypted data after the reset. But if you try to reset from control panel instead of using the reset button, don't click on "Restore Factory Defaults & Format All Volumes" formatting all volumes erases your data.
