File transfer only 3,000 kbytes/s

Post by tomiisek » Wed May 15, 2019 9:50 pm

Hi!
I have TS-653B with RAID6 and need to transfer many media files from several 4TB and 8TB USB3 drives.
TS-653B is connected with two cables to the router and my laptop is connected with one cable to the router.
I connected USB3 hard drive to USB3 port on my laptop and started copying files from USB3 drive to TS-653B via Total Commander.
Copying speed is between 2,400 kbytes/s and 6,000 kbytes/s, I expected speed at least 100,000 kbytes/s.
Should I transfer my files by another way?
Thanks!

Why not connect the drives directly to the NAS?
Read the Online Manuals and use the forum search feature before posting.

It is a recommended to use RAID and have external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

Submit bugs and feature requests to QNAP via their Helpdesk app.

Ok, so I connected the drive directly to the NAS and transfer speed has increased rapidly.
But what is the best way for file transfers from my laptop? File transfer speed from my SSD laptop is not higher than 5,000 kbytes/s.
Should I connect the NAS with my laptop via USB-C/USB3 cable? NAS-router-laptop transfers would be much more comfortable solution...
Thanks.

No, but you can connect LAN cable direct to Qnap without switch, this would improve things. You should see 169.254.100.100 address.
