Stuck with installing TS-453D

Post by YouriNS » Mon May 10, 2021 3:39 am

Hello there! I am the proud owner of a TS-453D since this weekend, my first NAS!

Unfortunately, I can not get it done to let the NAS interact with the internet.
I have been searching the internet for the whole day, but can not find a solution.
When I open the App Center, it does not show apps, when I go to firmware update, a message shows up that I am not connected to the internet.
However, a couple of times, the App Center did show some apps and I could use the search option to find apps.

I have tried changing from static to DHCP IP address, I tried the following DNS servers:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
192.168.2.100 (IP of my NAS)
192.168.2.254 (IP of my modem, a ZTE H369A)

I recently uninstalled my Bitdefender VPN application from my PC.
Followed all the steps in this topic viewtopic.php?t=129243
I had a PiHole running till a while ago, nothing should be leftover of configuration for that PiHole.
Factory resetted my router and NAS multiple times.

Hereby some information from SSH

Hi,
I have been dealing with the same problem the whole last week.

Today, I rolled back the firmware to 4.5.2.1605 build 20210312 ; and everything started working again. DNS can be found by the nas, apps are updating etc.

BTW I didn't manage to roll back from 4.5.3.1652 build 20210428 to 4.5.2.1630 build 20210406 - something in the firmware is blocking this downgrade.

Hope this helps.

Wow, if I knew that this was the solution :S !
Works like charm now, so now you are using 4.5.2.1605 build 20210312?
Or did you update to 4.5.3.1652 build 20210428 or 4.5.2.1630 build 20210406?

Thank you for your reply, you really helped me out!!

Hi,

I am using 20210312.

Got a call from the Qnap service desk, they have checked the problem and said it's IP v6 causing the problems with DNS not finding. So once you disable IP V6 in your network interface settings then from there you can upgrade to the latest firmwire version without the before mentioned problems.

I have not tested this, as my nas is still in the process of raid migration.

Good luck !

I did disable IP V6 in my NAS and updated to the latest firmware version.
Can confirm that this works.

Thank you, really appreciated your help!
