IS QNAP Coming around? Response I got today;
"I talked to my supervisor, he said we were still waiting for the response from the upper management. And he also told me not every similar symptom was caused by this issue. We need to check the SN, production batch, motherboard version, and other info to determine. I'm still waiting for the reply and will update you later."
Sounds like we need to keep up the pressure...

QNAP Model: TS251
Problem: System fan 1 failed and NAS was being rebooted repeatedly.
Solved: I used dupont jumper cable to connect a resistor between pin 1 and pin 8 (my board has only 9 pins) and the NAS booted successfully. However, my web UI login was messed up. Kept saying I didn't have the correct username or password (very sure I typed the right one) so I had to reset it. Finally be able to login and tt is now saying my drive has uncleaned data (probably caused by unexpected reboots multiple times) and currently rebuilding the RAID. This hack works!

Does the 100 ohm resistor fix pin 1 - 8 work on the TS-251+ ?

Hi Everyone. I'm experiencing the same issue on a QNAP TS-251C. Is there anyone who fixed the issue on this model?

This thread in the German forum says

Connect the pin 2 and 3 of the DEBUGCN1 connector on the 251C with 100Ohms and it should do the trick

Re: On boot, solid red HDD light(no inserted HDD) w/ No status light.
My TS-251+ is less than two years old and has the same issue.
Status lights are:
Status – Off
LAN – Flashing yellow or amber
USB – Blue solid
HDD1 – Red solid
HDD2 – Red solid
Is this like Apple and their planned obsolescence? Why so many in a short period of time? Sounds like a bad batch. Anyone want to start a class action lawsuit?

Has been discussed many times before .. it's a batch/stepping issue caused by intel

I have the exact same problem with my now ~11yo TS-219P. Specs says it's a Marvell 1.2GHz processor, could it still be the same issue as in this thread (i.e. possible fix with resistor on pins 1 & 8 )?njdedhed wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 4:39 am My TS-251+ is less than two years old and has the same issue.

Re: On boot, solid red HDD light(no inserted HDD) w/ No status light.
Hi, I also seem to have this issue. I have a TS-251+, which I use for personal stuff like family pictures etc. I don't have any knowledge of networking or NAS stuff (really, the book "NAS for Dummies" would still be too complicated for me). I am definitely not going to solder things between pins, I don't even know where I could find those pins. All I want is someone who can tell me how to recover the things I had on the NAS.
Can I just put the disks in another NAS? I happen to have bought a TS-453D a few days ago (just before the problem occured). Would that work? Is there something I should pay attention to? I'm afraid that when I put the disks in the new NAS, it would just start initializing and delete all data on the disks.
I found some information on https://www.qnap.com/en/nas-migration?o ... on=ts-453d which says the devices are compatible but there is a "Please note" and I have no clue if there is relevant information. It talks about legacy volumes and virtual switch setting and other things.
And why doesn't QNAP doesn't have support by phone?!

Same issue here. Is there anyone in the UK willing for me to courier my device, fix it with the soldering solution, and I’ll courier it back? I don’t have an issue if you fry it, just desperate to try anything.
Thanks in advance - PM me if you’re up for it!

Re: On boot, solid red HDD light(no inserted HDD) w/ No status light.
my ts-451 has the same issue. it happened two weeks ago.
Status light is green when power off.
After power on:
No status light, purple USB, all hd lights are red.
no hdmi ouput, no beep, can not reset.
Tried all kinds of troubleshooting. I hope I found this tread earlier. I had been troubleshooting for few days.
Would like to try the resistor approach. Question I have is mine TS-451 was bought 2014. is there any hardware changes or upgrades for all the same models in the past years?
