TS-509 Problem Mapping Network Drive
For no reason I know, I lost all access to my network drives on my win 11 PC. I'm pretty certain that the problem relates to this pc as I can access all the NAS network drives from another win 11 machine.
After a lot of googling and going up blind alleys, I decided to disconnect the network drives and reconnect them. I guess the problem was here as the only way I could get them to disconnect was via the cmd prompt with the final one being disconnected via deletion of registry entries - thanks again tto google.
My pc now only has a single drive letter for its hard drive but I can't now map any new network drive. (If I right click the NAs as an option isn't shown.)
Good news is :
- the NAS is shown as a network location in explorer.
- I can access it via QFinder Pro.
Bad news is I'm not sure what to do next in order to be able to map network drives on my TS-509 from explorer.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks

Did you get your computer locked out by the QNAP (e.g. too many wrong logins)?
Change the IP of the computer and try to access the NAS then

In explorer, right click on This PC to bring up a sub menu, click on Show more options, Select Map Network drive..
Enter your NAS network name per the example provided.

Thanks for the suggestions. I thought I'd posted a reply but it looks like it was unsuccessful. So here is a repost :
/dolbyman/ I've checked. There are no ip addresses that have been locked out.
/Dick193s/ Doesn't work I'm afraid. I've file attached a screenshot. NAS is the name of the QNAP server, RFJ is the folder name.

Have you tried leasing a new IP for the client ?

Re: TS-509 Problem Mapping Network Drive
Is your Nas named "NAS\RFJ"? If it is, that is your problem. The embedded "\" results in windows looking for a network named "NAS" and a folder called "RFJ".

Re: TS-509 Problem Mapping Network Drive
Thanks for the replies
The NAS is named NAS and the shared folder is RFJ.
I've got an older pc that runs win10 that I dug out and I can connect a network drive to it in the way you suggested - no problems at all - also a win 11 laptop, no problems there either. So it looks as though it is machine specific.
I tried pinging 'NAS' from the command prompt and it failed; I pinged its ip address and it succeeded. So I added a new entry into the localhosts file and at least I can now successfully ping ''NAS" from cmd. Still can't get the network drive set up though.

Re: TS-509 Problem Mapping Network Drive
Did you check/compare SMB versions enabled at PCs?
May the one which is not working has disabled SMBv1. My guess is, that this old NAS uses SMBv1.

Re: TS-509 Problem Mapping Network Drive
Sorry for the delay - had to find out how to check SMB Versions
There are 3 pc's on the network - all have the same enabled SMB settings
SMB1.0/CFIS File Sharing Support is ticked in Windows Features.
In powrshell I get the response EnableSMB2Protocol=True

Strange...
Did you enabled host access for Windows and the PC does not match this list?
The setting can be found in control panel - Win/NFS/Apple.

Re: TS-509 Problem Mapping Network Drive
I couldn't see any reference to enabling host access but I've got MS networking file service enabled (see screenshot).
If I cick on the advanced options, Enable WINS servier is ticked.

I see, may be your QTS is to old for this option.
Is there may be a connection from a service or user still in use!?

Re: TS-509 Problem Mapping Network Drive
Have you tried mapping by IP address instead of hostname?
