Cannot connect to QTS Desktop on new home network

Post by benblenner »

Hi all,

I had no issues at my previous house setting up and connecting to my TS-451 NAS.

Now that I'm in a new house, on a new network I cannot connect to my QTS Desktop, the NAS is visible and accessible through Finder (I am on a mac) But I just get 'Failed to connect to device' when attempting to connect through the cloud.

I have tried rebooting router / NAS with no luck. I can see the device on the myqnapcloud, but once again cannot connect to the desktop.

Firmware 4.2.0

Any ideas?

Try doing a short reset (press reset button on back for about 3 seconds until hear a beep) which will reset NW config and admin pw. I would also strongly recommend upgrading to the latest 4.2.x or 4.3.x firmware as there are known security vulnerabilities in 4.2.0 that make you a prime hacking target if you have any external ports exposed.
